LA Weight Loss Centers were recently
skewered on national TV for a string of legal actions against them. The NBC TV
show Dateline was the latest to do an expose of LA Weight Loss Centers'
bait-and-switch tactic of advertising a low cost program of diet shakes, food,
and counseling, only to steer new customers into high credit arrangements and
expensive programs. Customers may have gotten three months of free credit, but
they were quickly slammed with 23.7% interest, according to successful
prosecutions in New York and Washington . The Dateline program interviewed
several sales reps from the company who claimed they were trained to steer
customers into expensive programs and new credit cards. Who cared if anyone lost
weight?
Sadly, these chain operations consider a few hundred thousand dollars in fines
to be just the cost of doing business, and the business is to make the customer
lighter in the pocketbook than the waistband. If some of their customers manage
to lose weight, they'll tell the world all about it. Are we so desperate for
hand-holding and strict rules that we have to pay through the nose to get some
strangers to support us in our struggle to lose weight? Are we that lacking in
will power? Why do we want to drop those excess pounds? We want to be healthy,
have more energy, and look better.
These are actually selfish pursuits, no matter how sensible they are, and it's
time to put aside our resentment that we're losing weight to please a spouse,
parents, or the world at large. That only puts us in the position of being the
victim, and then we compound our victimhood by falling for diet scams, magic
pills, and exercise equipment that looks like a cheap folding chair. Instead,
each of us should look in the mirror and realize we want to lose weight for
ourselves. Then we can take ownership of the process, by applying only those
weight loss tips coming from trusted medical weight
loss articles and pride in the results. You can also use, weight
